Concert Bandleader Home + FAQ, Comps & Onboarding

Comp Tickets

10 comps are provided in your contract, but they cannot be booked earlier than the day before your event. Our goal is to sell those tickets to paying customers. If there appears to be enough inventory, we can sometimes waive that rule.  Fill out the form below and it will be sent to our box office to be filled – all comps must be requested at least two hours prior to the show start time.  To request more than one set of tickets, click “Add Another Request” under the form – another form will pop up to enter information. Other than handicapped requests, seating assignments are at the discretion of CDT. Do not walk up to the box office window to request comps.

Contacts

Nick Haug, nhaug@chanhassendt.com (Primary) – Nick manages the contracting, onboarding and sales tracking of your event. He can also answer any general questions you have that aren’t listed below.

Sue Berger, sueellenberger@gmail.com (Day-of-Event/Lighting) Sue is your lighting designer and venue manager while you’re in the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres building. Send Sue your setlist when it’s finished, so she can begin her design!

Russ Haynes, russ.haynes@usa.net (Sound) Russ books all sound engineers (if CDT is providing your engineer) and is the point-of-contact if you are bringing your own engineer. (In your contract.)

Kaylee Paulson, kpaulson@chanhassendt.com (Social Media and Digital Strategist) – Kaylee is your contact for any social media and digital ads questions.  If you see something not quite right in an ad, email Kaylee!

  • Your sound engineer is the first to arrive in the morning or early afternoon of your show.  The building is unlocked around 8am every day to provide access to the Fireside.
  • Instrumentalists with large equipment (drum kits, percussion, keyboard stands, etc.) are generally the next to arrive around two hours after the sound engineer to set up and coordinate with sound.
  • Vocalists and other instrumentalists arrive after that to plug in and get set up.
  • Sound check needs to finish 2 hours before doors open because your audience will be eating in an adjacent dining room.  Please give yourselves and the sound engineer enough time to set levels.  Even if you don’t think you need to rehearse a ton, your engineer may need the time.
  • Your food order is picked up two hours prior to curtain and is delivered 15-30 minutes later.  More details below.
  • Doors open 30 minutes before show start time.
  • We require one 20-minute intermission during your show.

A menu will be posted backstage where band members can mark their choice from a fixed menu. A manager will pick up the order two hours prior to the show start time. No late orders are permitted – the kitchen will be slammed from the Main Dinner Theatre.

Food will be delivered 15-30 minutes later to the wood-floored area near the main doors to the theatre. Please eat in the theatre house or backstage – do not take your meals to other parts of the building to eat. Meals are for band members only, not guests.

You will be hand-delivered a paper check the day of your first performance that will include your cut of all sales to that point. A check with any sales that occurred after the first check was written will be mailed with a ticket sales report to the address you provided during contracting.

We love it when you bring your own photographers/videographers! If your event returns to CDT, we love having the images to use in marketing materials. (You can send any photos/video to Nick Haug.) Please connect with Sue Berger if you intend to bring someone to capture the show – she has designated areas for them to stand and not disrupt the performance for guests. Please keep any “roaming” to a minimum.

We do not have a radius clause in your contract, but please refrain from booking your show within 45 days before or after your CDT event. It will be in direct competition and affect your sales. CDT does not guarantee ticket sales.

Only musicians and technical staff are allowed backstage in the Fireside Theatre.  You are welcome to meet any guests in the house or lobby.

  • CDT has a digital baby grand piano (Yamaha Clavinova 265 GP) that can be used by any band. Just let your sound engineer know that you want to use it, so it can be patched into the sound system.
  • Any props (tables, lamps, rugs, etc.) cannot be provided by CDT and are the responsibility of the band.
  • Please bring your own stand lights, if needed. Sue Berger only has a limited number to lend.
  • Please do not bring in wireless unless absolutely necessary. No 600 mHz allowed. If wireless is necessary, please provide make/model/frequency band at least a week before load in to receive coordinated frequencies. We reserve the right to refuse problematic wireless usage.

Merchandise can be sold in our lobby for any concert.  The performer retains 100% of those sales.  A table is marked backstage of the Fireside with a tablecloth that can be set up in the main lobby in the designated spot (across from the coat check to the right of the Hogarth Cocktail bar doors). The performer will need to bring their own merch person and notify Nick Haug if the person will be sitting in the house or backstage during the show.  Please return the table and (folded) tablecloth to the backstage spot after your event.

CDT will include mentions of your event in: Concert Series brochure, Main Stage/Stevie Ray’s theatre program, lobby display screens, emails, digital ads, Facebook & other social media.  Space allowing, we will also include you in radio & print media ads.

We expect that you will reach out to your fanbase via social media, email lists and media contacts.  You are the best advocate of your work to your fans. Post about it, remind them, give them a reason to come!

Our official name is Chanhassen Dinner Theatres.  Always include “Dinner” and the “res” at the end of “Theatres” when talking about us.

CDT does not allocate resources for PR. There are simply too many concerts, and many media “favors” are used for our Main Stage show. We encourage you to connect with any of your media contacts for interviews or mentions. On-air ticket giveaways can be set up with Nick Haug if it is determined to possibly help sales.

Concert Series

To get your event up for sale, we will need the following items immediately after the event is contracted:

  1. Exact title of the event. The shorter the better. CDT will format the title to fit brand standards.
  2. Logo/photo that can be cropped to a square for use on CDT website. (Actual: 1200px1200px)
  3. Descriptive Copy – 2-3 paragraphs describing your event. Talk about the show and what guests should expect regarding the style and content. Also, include a sample list of popular songs, plus bios of the artist(s) being covered and your band. The more description, the better. CDT customers need a LOT of info on a new show to commit to purchasing tickets.

We can also post additional photos and one YouTube/Vimeo link.
